After time to settle in and explore at your leisure, we will gather together for our Welcome Dinner at Plainpalais, an area closely connected to Mary Shelley’s life during her time in Geneva. This historic setting offers a meaningful glimpse into the environment that helped shape the world of Frankenstein and the literary movement that followed.

Our morning begins along the shores of Lake Geneva as we make our way toward the legendary Villa Diodati, the historic villa where Mary Shelley first began writing Frankenstein during the storm-filled summer of 1816. It was within this lakeside setting, surrounded by Lord Byron, Percy Shelley, and John Polidori, that one of the most influential works of gothic horror was conceived. While Villa Diodati remains privately owned, we will visit the nearby Pré Byron viewpoint and plaque in Cologny, a peaceful lakeside park created for literary enthusiasts to reflect upon the atmosphere that shaped these iconic stories.
